Finally!

Finally got a half decent pic of the red winged blackbird! We have several coming to the feeder now, they are also finally getting used to the large amounts of noise and movement coming from our yard all the time LOL. Of course tho, this isn't the one who is amazingly red on the wings, its funny how they vary in color, there is one that is almost florescent, its red color is so bright on the wings.

Young Jackrabbit

We had a visitor in the backyard the other day, a little jackrabbit! Don't even ask me how much the kids wanted to keep him (ok, fine, and me no matter how much I know not to keep wildlife as pets) but we had a nice talk about how he needed to go back into the bushes to find his mommy, and that he was too close to the streets and cars and needed to be safe somewhere else! (plus my cat would think its such a lovely toy to chase, gulp!)

We have had big rabbits all over of course, but I hadn't seen a little one yet., too cute!

Scarlet Honeysuckle

I gave up on my other one coming back (tho I have left it in the ground just in case) and bought a new one last weekend...my other one never bloomed at all, so its nice to see how lovely the blooms actually are! Here's hoping this one fares better this year!

Globeflower

My globeflowers are exploding this spring, I moved them out of the shade (where they did well since they are a shade flower) and into the sun, and they obviously love it as well!

Fiddleheads

Aha, It's a Grackle!

HA! I have been trying to get a picture of this guy all weekend, he's become attached to our yard and has visited a few times. I first thought he was a brewer's blackbird, but then on further research with better pics, I found out he's just a common grackle. Poor guy, so common, so plebian. BUT he eats all the food that the kids leave out LOL he had a feast of goldfish off the grass this morning I guess! So he is more than welcome to keep dropping by and cleaning my yard for me. He also eats all the seeds off the ground, which helps me as well.

Here's hoping tho that it stays to just one.....they are flock birds and considered agriculture pests! He is soo gorgeous with that shiny green-blue head, and isn't loud like magpies, so we'll keep him.
